Design systems help organizations improve efficiency, consistency, accessibility, and quality — within their own walls. But what if we could ensure all of that across organizations?

In this talk, we’ll share how we’re building designsystemet.no as a cross-agency initiative in Norway — bringing together designers, developers, and accessibility experts to co-create something greater than any single organization could achieve alone.

Designsystemet is more than a component library. It’s a platform for collaboration, a foundation for shared user experiences, and a way to ensure accessibility is built into the very core of digital services — across both public and private sectors. The goal isn’t to compete with existing systems, but to collaborate by aligning on how components behave in assistive technologies and how interaction patterns are designed and implemented.

You’ll also learn how you can bring all components into your own Figma organization with your own color profile in under two minutes — and how easily you can switch between themes, sizes, typography, and dark/light mode across the entire interface.
